湖南省含锰沉积层的层位有下震旦统莲沱组、上震旦统陡山坨组、中奥陶统磨刀溪组、下二叠统当冲组和上二叠统长兴组等十个层位。赋存在这些岩组中的沉积碳酸锰矿或含锰灰岩露出地表以后，在湿热气候条件下经表生风化作用使锰质进一步富集，形成我省较为重要的锰矿类型。这种矿床按其成因可分为锰帽、淋滤和堆积三大类。-Hunan manganese sediment layer bit lower Sinian liantuo Group, Upper Sinian Doushantuo lump Group, Middle Ordovician Brothers River Group, Lower Permian when the red group and the Upper Permian Changxing Formation other 10 layers.
